MY STORY
If you're feeling stuck trying to balance your sport and your faith, then you felt a lot like I did for a long time.

I’m Ronnie Baker— a man of God, professional track and field athlete, Father and Olympian. For over eight years, I’ve been competing at the highest level, representing brands like Adidas and pushing myself beyond limits most people never even reach. But it hasn’t always been like this…

Growing up, I had to take on responsibilities early—helping take care of my siblings, helping to pay bills, and figuring out life as I went. During all of this, I knew who Christ was but didn't have a personal relationship with him. Because of this, I believed hard work was the only key to success, but in reality, I was missing something even greater—faith and purpose.

When I truly started to develop a relationship with Christ, my life, my perspective on sports, and sense of purpose changed forever.

I’ve spent years mastering my mindset, pushing past adversity, and unlocking a level of discipline that has allowed me to compete with the fastest men in the world. I went from struggling with injuries and dealing with depression from coming up short in the Olympic Games to becoming one of the fastest men in history. And now, at 31 years old, I’m still just as fast, still just as determined, and now sprinting after God and greatness.

Knowing Christ on a deeper level and keeping the right perspective on both my faith and my sport has helped me stay in my lane - even when things didn't go my way. When injuries sidelined me, when my hard work didn't seem to pay off, and when doubt creeped in, Christ kept me moving forward. And through it all, I've learned something powerful: Defeat is Optional.

That’s why I created the community Defeat is Optional—for athletes, dreamers, and anyone who knows they have more inside them but just can’t quite break through. I want to help you build resilience, deepen your relationship with Christ, and develop the mindset needed to win—not just in sports, but in life.

You were made for more. The only question is—are you willing to put in the work to become that version of yourself?

Because with the right mindset, defeat is always optional.
